USO of North Carolina appoints Domtar Corp. executive to Board of Directors
Michael D. Garcia joins the USO of North Carolina Board of Directors to help strengthen our military
Charlotte, NC - Five years after joining the United States Army, Michael D.Garcia transitioned from military to civilian life and has since traveled the world in a number of business positions. Today, as the president of Domtar’s pulp and paper division, Garcia joins the USO of North Carolina’s Board of Directors to support those who follow in his footsteps. The USO of North Carolina is a nonprofit organization strengthening America’s service members by connecting them to family, home and country.
Garcia will serve as an at-large board member for the organization, supporting its efforts not only in the Piedmont Area, but also throughout North Carolina. The USO of NC Board of Directors provides advice regarding the management of the organization, assists with local fundraising and programs, and acts as a community information network.
“I am honored to work with the USO of North Carolina” said Garcia. “It’s especially meaningful to me, as a fellow veteran, in helping aid troops with vital support services and essential programs for military families.”
Garcia joined Domtar, a leading provider of a wide variety of fiber-based products including communication, specialty and packing papers, market pulp and absorbent hygiene products, in May of 2014. Domtar also supports the USO of North Carolina through donations of paper products, employee volunteering and more. Domtar’s support allows the USO of NC to use critical dollars directly for programs serving our men and women in uniform.
