Paradies Lagardère, USO of North Carolina join forces to support service members responding to Hurricane Harvey
Paradies Lagardère and USO of North Carolina send 8,000 hygiene kits to military members supporting disaster relief in Houston
Charlotte, N.C. – More than 24,000 service members have been deployed to the Gulf Region to provide relief to those who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey. To support those service members, the USO of North Carolina is teaming up with Paradies Lagardère, the travel retail and restaurateur leader in North America to send 8,000 hygiene kits to Fort Hood.
Over the past several months, Paradies Lagardère collected over 12,000 travel and comfort kits from the generosity of Charlotte Douglas International Airport travelers for the USO of North Carolina. The USO of North Carolina typically provides service members with travel kits when they deploy overseas and to single service members when they come home, but due to the immediate need of our military members in Texas, Paradies Lagardère and the USO of NC have diverted the delivery to Fort Hood.
Service members currently deployed to Texas are primarily National Guard, but Marines from Camp Lejuene, N.C. and Airmen from Pope Army Airfield at Fort Bragg, among others have also answered the call to deploy. Those service members are helping with relief efforts, from helping victims to safety to medical evacuations, security teams, medical supplies and more. The service members were called to leave their homes at a moment’s notice, for an indefinite period of time and are without the comforts of home.
The USO of North Carolina’s mission is to strengthen our nation’s military. Through this partnership, the USO of NC can continue connecting our service members to family, home and country even when they are answer the call to provide disaster relief.
