Media Advisory: USO of NC teams up with Operation Motorsport to engage ill, injured and wounded service members and veterans through motorsports opportunities
WHAT: Operation Motorsport is launching a new program for ill, injured and wounded service members and veterans transitioning from military to civilian life, August 25-27 at the Virginia International Raceway. The “Excite” program was successfully launched last month in Ontario, Canada, but this is the first time that the program will be offered to U.S. service members and veterans.
As part of the launch, Operation Motorsport is working with the USO of North Carolina to identify a group of ill, injured or wounded service members and veterans who will join Operation Motorsport at the Michelin GT Challenge for a motorsport immersion experience with select International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) race teams and car corrals.

WHY: Operation Motorsport is a nonprofit organization that engages, through motorsports opportunities, ill, injured and wounded service members and disabled veterans, affected by military service, leading to aiding in their recovery and rehabilitation.
The Excite program coordinates and provides motorsports experience as a recovery activity, a training opportunity and qualification needed to return to work, and serves as the relationship manager between the Motorsports and automotive industry for vocational opportunities for the wounded, injured and ill.
