Helping military families connect the dots in personal finance
Recognizing that Financial Literacy is a subject that touches every part of a military family’s life, the USO of North Carolina offers embeds a financial literacy component into every resiliency and transition workshop we host. As with all USO of North Carolina Programs, spouses and family members are encouraged to attend with their service member.
Under the guidance of local military leadership, the USO of NC launched its Financial Literacy course, Military Money Matters. This flexible course gives attendees basic knowledge of their financial world all the way to investing and retirement information.
The course covers topics from purchasing a vehicle, to the decision to rent or buy a new home and more. In addition to the workshop attendees receive a workbook, a copy of a Get It Together Real World Guide book, a 15-minute consultation with a financial expert, a case management system via email after the class and a great start to their financial future.
Topics covered in the 15 minute consultations range from divorce and child support to saving for the future, investing and credit score improvement techniques.
